Free-Medical-Care fights with corona virus

Sibels retrospection from 'Ladakh 2019' mission!

At first the project made me feel skeptical, since it would have been the first trip to Ladakh/India in my life. I had huge concerns about the surrounding in Ladakh and about the possibilities how I could support the project. Since I very trust my friend Dr. Ayla Bayrak and the other friends, who joined the organization, I decided to be part of the trip without further ado. From the very first moment I arrived in Leh everybody welcomed me with lots of love and respect. It made me feel very happy and pleased to help people, who otherwise would never have the chance to get plastic surgery. Most of the patients have been children with burn injuries or congenital malformations. It was a pleasure to see the happiness in their faces after their medical treatment. Moreover, coming from thousands of kilometers away and being able to contribute something positive to their lives made me feel satisfied and to be honest a bit proud. The whole time we spent in Ladakh we have been treated with overwhelming hospitality. Thus, we made great friends. The people I meet will remain in my heart and I will remember them with great fondness.

Such experiences are the motivation for our team of Free-Medical-Care e.V.

This is the story of eight year old Lotus. Due to heavy burn injuries his ability to move was limited in such a way that he was unable to walk. His older sister carried him as far as she could, but living a ´normal´ life for Lotus and his family was impossible. From 2012 onwards Lotus was under medical treatment of Free-Medical-Care e.V. including several surgerys. On arrival in 2015 the team was moved to tears seeing Lotus playing football with his friends besides the monastery of Ladakh.
